To mark its 12th year as the event’s official partner, NetJets Europe commissioned design firm Timorous Beasties to decorate one of its fleet.
The unique tail design, unveiled on a Signature Series Challenger 350 jet on Tuesday, is inspired by the moth and took over 10 hours to apply.
“It’s a pattern repeat that follows a very simple logic, but possesses a profound visual effect, a device that really lends itself to universal scales.
And being given the opportunity to take it to this breath-taking size — to think about it in terms of a surface application to the architecture of aerodynamics — is really very special,” said Paul Simmons and Alistair McAuley of Timorous Beasties.
Timorous Beasties designs will also adorn the NetJets Europe lounge during this year’s Art Basel, which runs from June 18 and the company is expecting 110 flights operating into Basel for the event this year.
