A 1984 portrait by Andy Warhol of the late singer Michael Jackson will go on display at London’s O2 arena before being sold at auction in New York.
The artwork was commissioned by TIME Magazine to celebrate the record sales of Jackson’s album Thriller
Since the death of Jackson and since Warhol passed long ago, the portrait is causing fans and art investors to drool over the possibility of owning this piece of art.
The portrait, which is 30 x 26 inches (76.2 x 66 cm), will be sold at auction in New York where it is expected to sell for millions.
Until then, it will be on display at the British Music Experience in London, inside the concert venue at which Jackson had been due to perform.
American artist Warhol was a leading figure in the Pop Art movement, and he experimented by creating artworks from mass-produced images from American popular culture.
