Artist Sandy Byers paints using her Credit Card
We use credit and debit cards as an alternative to cash when we don’t feel like carrying around so much or when we want to make a simple purchase without the pains of counting dollars and cents. Artist Sandy Byers has found another usage for her credit card- as an alternative for paintbrushes! This Washington-based artist paints scenic artwork using her credit cards as her tool of choice. This queer method of painting was discovered by accident during a hiking trip that she meant to paint on but had forgotten to bring paintbrushes. Reluctant to let her hiking trip go to waste, she took out her credit card and started painting with it. Although bizarre, the credit card was able to render interesting strokes and gave exquisite precision to her scenic paintings that using a paintbrush might not. Byers entered the painting she created on the trip into the Paint the Peninsula competition and took home the Juror’s Award. Since then, Byers continued using credit cards to paint breathtaking landscapes. Its hard to guess that these paintings were made without any paintbrushes.
