Geometric Reflections of Natural Landscapes by Victoria Siemer
Digital artworks that explore our perception of space
Brooklyn-based graphic designer Victoria Siemer, also known as Witchoria, has produced a series of digital artworks that explore our perception of space. In this untitled series of photos, she cleverly blends geometric shapes into images of natural landscapes to produce fragmented reflections within the landscapes. She re-positions fragments of the landscapes, creating the illusion of mirrors that tower over the photograph. Siemer begins with dreamy landscapes of mountains, oceans, fog, forests and even stills of majestic animals. She often then aligns fragments within the image into symmetrical arrangements to form multiple layers within the photograph. Through her manipulation, she blurs the line between reality and fiction, making it difficult to separate the elements within the photograph.
Siemer explains that the abstract realities created in her images are open for interpretation. However, her work does often deal with visual fragmentation. Another example of her abstract work is her recent series of humanized computer error messages.
