Gemma Green-Hope creates a touching tribute to her late grandmother

May 14, 2014 | By Staff Writer

In a touching tribute, animator and illustrator Gemma Green-Hope created a moving stop-motion film about her late grandmother. After sorting through her remaining possessions, Green-Hope came to a clearer understanding of the woman her grandmother was. She mentions simple things like her grandmother’s love for books (“She loved books. She let me count them and there were over a thousand.”) She also highlights the significance of her possessions in leaving behind a part of her for those still alive. “Her house was like a relic. Her memories of an ancient world. A world where the wild was still wild.”
