Dimensionalism

Adam Neate showcases his dimensional paintings in the Elms Lesters painting rooms

Oct 04, 2014 | By Staff Writer

British Painter Adam Neate is known for his street art, specifically his bold paintings rendered on scraps of cardboard on the streets. In the late 1990s, he gained recognition for leaving thousands of his own artworks on the streets for anyone to take. Since 2011, he has been exploring a new niche of painting style called dimensionalism. Each painting depicts unfamiliar, sometimes vague, subject matters. Applying highly complex techniques, he makes the focus of each painting three-dimensional. Beyond the intended visual effect, the emotions of the subjects in each painting is highly ambiguous- inciting uncertainty and intrigue in the viewers. By changing their vantage points, the viewers will get different perspectives of the paintings and the characters within them.

Neate’s works were showed at the Art Stage in Singapore in 2012 and in 2013. His dimensional paintings are currently being showcased in the prestigious elms lesters painting rooms in London till 18th October.
