Creating Here by Yusuke Asai
Japanese artist stretches hand painted web within tokyo gallery
Yusuke Asai gained recognition for the mud mural he painted on the walls and ceilings of School in India. The artist demonstrates his niche for creating large-scale, yet intricate and detailed, art installations in his recent hand-painted web installation in a Tokyo gallery. The work, titled “Creating Here”, is hung above the ceiling of the gallery for viewers to look up and admire its magnificence. Using the simple medium of paper and blue markers, the artist makes illustrations of floral patterns and animals motifs along the white paper which is stretched from the surrounding walls to the floor like a spider web or a growing bacterial cell with extending strands. The web explores the space within the galley and extends ourtwards to its visitors, showering them with vibrant images. Birds, foxes and lizards, as well as flowers and other botanical motifs, form the dense and magnificent landscape that emanates throughout the entire gallery space. Learn more about Yusuke Asai here.
