Gambling Millionaires
Now, who wouldn’t want to walk out as a millionaire?
For the average gambler, making money from playing casino games has long been a far-fetched notion. The idea that you leave as a rich woman or man and walk through the front door of a casino is genuinely fascinating.
From live poker to slots to blackjack, gambling houses are tempting people to try their luck against the fates. While you are still thinking about the money you could win from playing casino games, here are some of the biggest wins in history.
Their winning stories may inspire you and make you believe that nothing is impossible
Don Johnson
In about five months and three casinos in Atlantic City, Don Johnson won a staggering $15 million. The professional Blackjack player won US$4 million from Caesar’s, US$5 million from the Borgata, and US$6 million from the Tropicana, all between December 2010 and April 2011.
US$15 million in winnings from three Atlantic City casinos? How did Don Johnson do it? No one gets that lucky, right? According to his interview with The Atlantic, card counting was not his game because he had played the game fair and square.
Don Johnson revealed how the casinos gave him good house rules and a 20% discount on his losses that allowed him to break the bank. Privileges for high rollers are common to gambling houses, such as free trips on jets and hotel stays. Practicing with a live blackjack dealer online also helps.
In 2010, the casinos’ revenues tanked in a shaky market. As a result, gambling establishments became the dire need of big spenders like Don Johnson, who played with special deals in late 2010.
He made deals for discounts at least 20% after his losses at the Tropicana hit US$500,000. So, if Johnson were to lose the whole amount, he would only need to pay US$400,000. After Johnson racked up a total of US$5.8 million at the Tropicana, the deal was ended.
What’s more, the Caesars’ dealer declined to fill Johnson’s chip tray when he won a total of US$4 million, and the Borgata stopped him from playing at $5 million.
Kerry Packer
Kerry Packer was an Australian multi-millionaire and a media mogul. In 2004, his net worth hit US$6.4 billion, making him one of the wealthiest people in Australia. Not only was he utterly invested in business and media, but Kerry Packer also had a passion for gambling.
Kerry Packer is known as an excellent gambler. He pushes his fortune and cuts short his losses, which makes all of his plays significant. As such, the gambling houses cannot oppose his action.
He wagered vast amounts of money at the gambling houses because he just loves to gamble. In 1995, Kerry Packer played blackjack at the MGM Grand Casino and went extreme with his bankroll.
He played eight hands of blackjack, each worth more or less US$30,000, simultaneously. As reported, Kerry was wagering at every game round a total of US$250,000. He left the tables after an intense forty-minute session with the biggest blackjack win in history.
Kerry won a total of US$40 million. He was thrilled and joyous of his win that he left a $1 million tip for his dealer at the MGM Grand.
Dana White
Dana White is the current UFC president with a net worth of US$500 million. Aside from that, he is also a fantastic blackjack player. In the early 2000s, since Palms Casino Resort opened, Dana White has been one of its leading players.
White regularly stakes US$25,000 every hand, but when he won US$2 million in 2012, the casino blacklisted his play, slashed his stakes and time allowed at blackjack tables. Because of this, he boycotted the hotel and played at Caesar’s instead.
Over time, Palms Casino Resort and Dana White made up, but it was not long before winning a large amount again. The UFC president racked up a staggering US$5 million this time. The bitter Palms Casino Resort didn’t give aid to carry cash. Instead, they stacked the money on the counter.
For the second time around, the casino and Dana White went their separate ways but in a better fashion. The gambling establishment even gifted the UFC president a UFC Esque belt with the words “PALMS Undisputed Blackjack Champion.”
