Virgin Atlantic launching lipcolor
Virgin Atlantic is launching its first ever lipcolor inspired by the cabin crew’s uniform.
After Chanel’s Spring/Summer 2012 Haute Couture show was staged on a Chanel-branded airplane, air travel has never seemed so glamorous, and now airline Virgin Atlantic is launching its first ever lipcolor inspired by the cabin crew’s uniform.
The company has teamed up with beauty brand bareMinerals for the shade Upper Class Red, which will be sold at the Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse Spa at Heathrow, Gatwick and New York JFK airports, before reaching bareMinerals stockists later this year. It will also be available for pre-order on board Virgin Atlantic flights.
While both firms wanted to create a classic velveteen red, the product has also been designed with frequent travelers in mind.
“It includes micronized freshwater pearl powder which hydrates the lips alleviating the effects of cabin air pressure. Plus the comfortable and longwearing finish makes glamour last that bit longer, perfect for long-haul flights,” explained Sarah-Jane Froom, European Makeup Artist at bareMinerals.
This new beauty venture follows a team-up between Virgin’s Australian airline Virgin Blue and Elle Macpherson back in February 2011, with the supermodel taking to the runway to present its new uniforms.
Other companies keen to evoke the glamour of air travel include Australia’s Qantas, which announced Victoria’s Secret model Miranda Kerr as its latest ambassador earlier this year.
