Jaguar released official photos of the Jaguar XF Sportbrake ahead of the car’s debut at the 2012 Geneva Auto Show.
The new Jaguar XF Sportbrake is a large estate designed to take on the likes of the BMW 5 Series touring among wealthy families, with the Indian-owned automaker describing the car as “the most versatile Jaguar ever created.”
Although the model is loosely based on the Jaguar XF, the rear is completely new, allowing the brand to work in a total volume of 1,675 liters and some innovative new features such as ground lights which illuminate when the trunk is open and a soft-close mechanism, which means it can’t be slammed.
Technical specifications and pricing will be released closer to the European launch date, which is set for the third quarter of 2012.
The Sportbrake will get a range of diesel engines in 2.2-liter four-cylinder and 3.0-liter six-cylinder variants. They will be linked to an eight-speed automatic transmission.
