Bugatti sets world convertible speed record

Bugatti has announced that by reaching 408.84 km/h, its Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse has has beaten the world record for a convertible.

Car manufacturer Bugatti has announced that by reaching 408.84 km/h, its Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse has has beaten the world record for a convertible.

The feat, accomplished by Chinese driver Anthony Liu, took place on the Volkswagen test track at Ehra-Lessien in Germany.Ā The record will be made official next week during the Shanghai Auto Show.

The Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse has been on the market since spring 2012 and it has a W16 1.200hp engine. The car can go from 0 to 100km/h in 2.6 seconds and from 0 to 300km/h in just 16 seconds for an extreme combined fuel consumption of 23.1l/100km.
