Update: David Beckham’s rep has confirmed to E! News that news of him opening a restaurant with Gordon Ramsay is not true.

Newly retired soccer superstar, David Beckham, revealed his plans to team up with the acerbic chef Gordon Ramsay to open up a sports bar and grill in Las Vegas.

According to The Sun, hotelier and business tycoon Steve Wynn, who owns the Wynn Las Vegas, is wooing the pair to help him open a sports bar and grill along the strip.

And while the city is already saturated with restaurants, including a trio of Ramsay-branded eateries including BurGR at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino, Gordon Ramsay Steak at the Paris Las Vegas hotel, and Gordon Ramsay Pub & Grill at Caesars Palace, Wynn is hoping the complementary star power of one of the world’s biggest soccer players combined with Ramsay’s international fame as a chef will help bring in foot traffic, says the Sun.

The timing is likewise ideal, points out the paper, given Beckham’s plans to retire.
