Chanel creative director Karl Lagerfeld will be global guest editor for Metro International newspapers this February.
He will spend one day working in the paper’s Paris newsroom for the Feb. 7 issue, with coverage to run in 22 countries across Europe, America and Asia.
Entitled “The World According to Karl,” the edition will feature illustrations and commentaries from the creator and will launch the paper’s coverage of the New York, London, Milan and Paris Fashion Weeks.
In the lead-up to the event, Metro readers can compete in a Look Book competition to be Lagerfeld’s editorial assistant on February 6, as well as gaining a range of items from Lagerfeld’s various collections.
Aspiring fashion journalists need to submit their own “fashion statement” to Metro’s global website, with a link to Facebook where they can promote their entry.
Lagerfeld is no stranger to the realm of journalism: earlier this year he interviewed former French Vogue editor Carine Roitfeld for fashion magazine Interview.
He has previously teamed up with publications including Vogue and Wallpaper, for which he guest-edited an issue alongside French designer Philippe Starck in 2009.
Last year he was guest editor in chief for French magazine Madame Figaro on a special 50s-themed issue.
He also took the helm as guest editor for French newspaper Libération in June 2010, redesigning the paper’s logo and putting his self-portrait on the front cover.
