Danish Aesthetic

Designed by Iskos for Wendelbo, the Half and Half armchair sports a minimalist style that is constructed from clean aesthetics.

The interesting form is accentuated by beautifully curved arm-rests while the backrest flaunts a chic division of the upholstery in the middle of it. The structure is made from steel powder coated in black and a choice of fabric or leather upholstery can be selected. This superbly comfortable armchair is easy to get up and turns your me-time into a very stylish affair.

Design from Downunder

Australian designer Nikolai Kotlarczyk knows how to create a sexy, sculptural chair for SP01. Available with and without headrest, the Royce armchair has a minimal aesthetic where the externally mounted tubular steel frame is its main highlight.

If you observe closely, you’ll notice a bird-like silhouette that seems like it is about to take flight. The sinuous frame to the art of the wing-shaped shell, and even the tight radius of the headrest, hard lines are nary in sight. Kotlarczyk cites, “That was a big feature for me, to get the frame wrapping around the back and make it free of the back legs so that it has this beautiful uninterrupted line.” Royce’s bird-like charm toys around anthropomorphic forms, a nod to the tropical dove that the designer was inspired by.

Sculptural Wood

For more than a decade, renowned Spanish designer Jaime Hayon’s work for Ceccotti has been a whirlwind, whimsical and engaging journey. For 2021, his design for the Italian furniture brand is the T-Bone lounge chair.

By focusing on Ceccotti’s rich history in woodworking, their artisans are able to deliver an iconic, sculptural lounge chair. You can witness the sensuous wood grains of bentwood and their different parts. The frame itself is composed of many single finished parts that come together harmoniously to create this masterpiece. Available in American walnut or ash, this arresting lounge chair with padded backrest is a perfect combination of comfort, detailed aesthetics and an ode to the woodworking skills of Ceccotti’s artisans.

A 1950s Flair

Inspired by ’50s furniture design, Italian-Danish duo GamFratesi, devised the Lido basket-like lounge seat for Italian furniture brand Minotti. The seat is expressed with a continuous, enveloping curved line that wraps the rim of the padded body.

The circular line adds a Brutalist aesthetic to the lounge seat, giving it a strong distinguishing presence. Offered in two types of bases — X-shaped aluminium version covered in brushed ash of a Moka open-pore lacquer finish, or legs in solid Canaletto walnut wood stained with lacquered dark brown. Lido is also in various typologies from dining chairs to striking Bianconero marble top coffee tables with the striking X-shaped aluminium base.

Modern Lounger

Cappellini understands the whims of houseproud individuals. The importance of creating personalised touches to their prized furniture. The brand’s latest Lud’o Lounge designed by Patricia Urquiola is an ingenious construction of upholstery rearrangement.

The entire padded upholstery that covers the shell can be untucked and replaced with a new pattern or printed upholstery, or a selection of leathers. The catalogue of upholstery choices is staggering, if not limitless, allowing you to change the personality of the sumptuous lounge chair. Whether you want the chair to radiate a playful stance or more of a regal feel, it’s really up to you. The lounger is offered in a few base options: a conical metal swivel base matte varnished in black; four solid ash wood legs (oak stained, wengé stained, or black stained), with four ash wood spokes (oak stained, wengé stained, or black stained). Interestingly, Lud’o Lounge was designed in honour of Urquiola’s mentor Vico Magistretti, and every part of the lounger is recyclable.
