A Time to Spend (at DFS)
Shopping at the airport is still a joy, even for the most seasoned of travelers. This festive season, DFS is unveiling new DFS-exclusive timepieces to its stores.
The fact of the matter is that duty-free shopping at airports is a guilty pleasure, even for the most seasoned of travellers. Besides getting the best value through tax savings, there’s always a pleasant thought of buying one’s self or loved ones a gift on the way back home, a nice end to a trip, as it were.
These days, you’re not likely to just find savings but travel retail-exclusive items to make stopovers in the stores worthwhile. This festive season, DFS has unveiled new exclusives to their stories so when you invariably find yourself at Changi Airport, look out for the iconic DFS Changi red dot at T2 Departure Transit and get some additional time on your hands, and on your wrists.
Emporio Armani Connected
Functionality has always been at the heart of smartwatches and Emporio Armani’s Connected timepieces echo this sentiment with a newly-equipped heart rate monitor and integrated GPS. The brand has also adopted NFC technology for use with Google Pay in select countries, adding to the travel aspect of the piece.
On par with tech counterparts in terms of capabilities, the Connected watch gets a leg up with the superior style of Mr Armani himself, balancing out form and function. Dressed in cool stainless steel with bracelet, the DFS-Exclusive Set comes with an additional interchangeable leather strap for wardrobe versatility.
Casio G-Shock G-Steel and G-Shock Gulfmaster
The indestructible Casio G-Shock achieves its next-level timekeeping toughness with stainless steel. Seen in the G-Steel series, the metal is combined with resin on the bezel in a dual-layer guard structure for an added dimension of shock resistance. The watch flaunts an analogue-digital display and uses a hand-shift function to temporarily move hands out of the way of the LCDs for easy reading.
Taking it to the sea after, the Casio Gulfmaster is the ultimate maritime G-Shock. With both Triple Sensor Version 3 and Smart Access technologies, it provides a host of environmental readings (barometric pressure, altitude, bearing, temperature) — including Tide Graph and Moon Age details — through a single electronic crown to keep the wearer in touch with his natural surroundings. Built to resemble a diver’s watch, the Gulfmaster braves any oceanic elements with its signature shock resistance and water resistance to 200m.
SevenFriday S1/03 “Gate 7”
Dubbed “Gate 7”, the DFS-Exclusive model of the SevenFriday S1/03 is emblazoned with a new
colourway. Here, the recyclable nylon case band is in a translucent shade of red, revealing the stainless steel body and fixing screws from the side. The dial is also stripped for an industrial aesthetic, with orange and yellow accents to liven up the openworked engine beneath.
TAG Heuer Carrera Calibre 5 Day-Date
The Carrera may be emblematic of TAG Heuer’s automotive heritage, but it has also evolved beyond the high-speed circuit in its 55 years of history. The Carrera Calibre 5 Day-Date presents a dressier side of the sports timer with a large and legible calendar aperture. Housed in 39mm stainless steel, the DFS-Exclusive model’s silver dial is highlighted with flame-blued indexes and hands for striking elegance, making it a handsome wrist companion.
From 14 December 2018 to 31 January 2019, take home a gift token and stand to win an Apple iPad with a minimum $1,000 spent on timepieces at DFS Changi.
