Beautiful ceramic plates designed by Lula Aldunate
Artist creates vintage-looking pieces inspired by Mandalas
Beyond charming tableware, Lula Aldunate’s designs are true works of art. The New York-based designer has created a series of handcrafted ceramic plates with an intricate mandala painted on top. Mandalas translate to “circle” in Sanskrit and hold a strong significance in Hindu and Buddhist rituals and spiritual beliefs. It symbolizes the universe. Inspired by this, she has recreated the circular motif, giving it a contemporary charm and vintage flair. By experimenting with a variety of pastel colours, floral print and exquisite gold leaf, she creates her wonderful compositions.
Aldunate was originally born in Buenos Aires where she also studies graphic design. In 2008, she moved to new york to pursue her creative dreams. She now owns a boutique in Brooklyn called Allegria Boutique which sells her work. Her designs are often inspired by her own European and Latin-American background. Aldunate retains a traditional European flair in her pieces but also incorporates a quirky, modern twist.
