Henrik Fisker Announces Fisker Automotive Return
The man behind the sketches for the BMW Z8 and Aston Martin DB9 is set to revive Fisker Automotive and launch a new car.
Henrik Fisker is reviving Fisker Automotive and plans to introduce an all-new premium electric car that is expected to be unveiled in mid-2017. With talks that it will set the new standard for range between charges, there are high expectations for the vehicle. Bear in mind that this is completely different to the Karma Revero, which we covered previously.
Said to have greater head room and leg room that other cars in production, the vehicle is also expected to be constructed using innovative materials and will incorporate revolutionary battery technology. Little else is known about the new design. “Fisker Inc. will spearhead a revolution in electric cars that will disrupt the electric vehicle market and change the world,” said Henrik Fisker, who will serve as Chairman and CEO of the reformed company.
Back in 2012, the company launched the world’s first electrically propelled luxury GT called the Fisker Karma. The vehicle used a petrol generator to recharge the battery and was a bold vision by the brand. And because it was designed and conceived by the man that had been responsible for sketching the BMW Z8 and the Aston Martin DB9, the car and the company generated huge excitement.
Unfortunately, a combination of poor sales, problems with suppliers and a natural disaster forced Fisker to walk away and the company went into bankruptcy. “Both the technology and the market are more mature now than when we first started out as pioneers in the electric vehicle industry, and our new vehicle will be the most innovative and cutting-edge electric car ever created,” said Fisker. “With our game-changing battery technology, now is the time to develop more affordable, mass market vehicles,” he added.
