Plans to launch a Smart SUV-style vehicle were first drawn up more than 10 years ago, but the project derailed in 2005.
Speaking at the Shanghai International Auto Show on Monday, Mercedes-Benz chief Dr. Dieter Zetsche suggested its plan could be back on track.

Zetsche said if the chic Smart range is to expand, venturing into the SUV-style Smart car based on the ForFour would definitely “be the place to go”, according to Auto Express.
Smart’s parent company also unveiled on Monday its blended SUV-coupé model — the GLC Coupe concept — set to rival the BMW X4.
